What To Do in December

What To Do in December

December is here and ready to go! Even though this time of year can become some of the busiest for all of us, I think it's important to celebrate the traditions that make you feel good and bring you the most joy. Here are a few of the things that we are doing for this holiday season.

Create a Book Advent Calendar...

As a former teacher, I have a zillion books just sitting in boxes in the garage. But this year I decided to pull all of my holiday books and wrap them up as presents for my little guy. He is beyond excited to see which book he "gets" to open each day and then we read it together. A definite win-win for us!

Make Memory Ornaments...

This idea came to me last year on a whim. We filled clear glass ornaments with our favorite memories written on festive sheets of paper.  This year as we were decorating we "opened" each ornament and read our favorite memories from that year. We all loved reminiscing and then writing our new memories for next year.

Create Joyful Pictures...

I haven't done this project yet but I love the idea of finding photos from the year and creating a collage with a holiday twist. This is going on my project list for next year.

Christmas Eve in a Box...

Our normal Christmas Eve tradition includes opening one gift (which is always our special holiday pajamas) and then reading T'was the Night Before Christmas. This will still be on your list but I do like the idea of making a Christmas Eve Box filled with a few extra goodies for the night.

Door Decorating...

Decorating our front doors and porches is pretty much the norm for most of us during the holidays but I started another door decorating tradition a few years back. It all started with my son's obsession with the movie Frozen. He loved Olaf the snowman so I decided to decorate his bedroom door as Olaf. Of course he LOVED it! And since then it has been a regular tradition in our household. This year's theme will be a lighted Christmas tree, like the picture below.

I would love to hear about your traditions too, so please share!
