What I Love about doing Permanent Jewelry

I've been a jewelry designer (based in Orange County, CA) for many years now, and for the most part, I've focused on creating fine jewelry collections based on the vibe of the 70s with a strong focus on 18k gold and gemstones. And while I love what I do, that feeling of creating something that I just dreamt up and turning it into something people love, it's to some extent, a lonely endeavor. It's dreaming things up, designing them out, getting them made, and the list goes on and on. I think I might write a blog post on just the life of a jewelry designer :)

I've seen the rise of permanent jewelry (a.k.a welded jewelry or zapped jewelry) over the last few years and especially this last year. After mulling it over a bit, I finally made the jump into it myself and... I am having SO MUCH FUN! While it may seem like a simple act of just welding two ends of either gold or silver together, there is much more to it than meets the eye, and as someone who has been in the industry for a while now, I can attest that doing permanent jewelry is not just a job but a passion. So I wanted to talk a little bit about the experience and give a few of the reasons why I love doing permanent jewelry.

Being a Part of an Experience

One of the most fulfilling aspects of doing permanent jewelry is being a part of a meaningful experience in a person's life. Whether it's someone getting a gorgeous little 14k gold bracelet or anklet for themself to celebrate a personal milestone or commemorate a special occasion, or a mother and daughter who want to celebrate the love of family or a group of women (and men) to show just how much their bond means to each other, there is always something so incredibly meaningful about the experience. Just being able to witness such experiences is truly rewarding to me.

Helping People Commemorate Personal Milestones or Celebrations

As I mentioned above, permanent jewelry is not just about fashion or making a statement; it can also serve as a commemoration of a personal milestone or celebration. Many people choose permanent jewelry to honor someone special in their life or as a symbol of their own journey. As I work with each individual or group of people, I hear all these amazing stories of love and laughter, and I can't remember a time when someone wasn't smiling.

It's a Quick and Instant Service that Makes People So Happy

Unlike other services that require time, preparation, and sometimes a long wait, getting a cute bracelet or anklet (and even ring) is a relatively quick and instant service. Most of the time is taken picking out the right chain for each person, and most of the time, they choose the same exact type of chain. The entire process can take as little as a few minutes, and the customer can walk out with their new piece of jewelry, feeling happy and satisfied. This immediate gratification is unique to the jewelry industry and is a big part of why people love it so much. There's no waiting around or uncertainty, and the results are instant.

Connecting with Different People and Learning a Part of Their Story

As someone who does permanent jewelry, I connect with different people from all walks of life. Each person has a unique story and reason for getting their jewelry, and I find it fascinating to hear their stories. From hearing about someone's cultural traditions to learning about their personal journey, I love connecting with people personally. Doing permanent jewelry is not just about zapping on chains and charms; it's also about building connections and relationships with people I would have never met before.

It Gives Me Instant Happiness Knowing That I Brought a Little Something to a Person's Life

Finally, one of the most rewarding aspects of doing permanent jewelry is the feeling of instant happiness that comes with it. Knowing that I played a part, no matter how small, in making someone's day a little bit better is incredibly satisfying. Whether it's seeing the smile on their face as they leave my little JDM Studio or receiving a thank you message from a satisfied customer, it's these little moments that make doing permanent jewelry so fulfilling. So for me personally, it gives me the opportunity to actually experience what jewelry does for people, and I thank all of you who I've worked with in the past and can't wait to meet all of you I'll meet in the future. If you're considering getting permanent jewelry, I highly recommend it. And if you are ever in Orange County near the little town of San Clemente, CA. I would be happy to help.
